Why Do The brakes On My Acura Sometimes Make This Weird Screeching Sound?

January 27th, 2009

Built into your brake pads on your Acura is this U shaped piece of metal.

Acura came up with a KISS style reminder that you need to replace your brake pads.

The screeching or squeaking sound you hear is the result of the ends of that U shaped piece of metal coming into contact with the rotating disk.

When the pads are brand new, there is a space between the rotating disk and that piece of metal.

As the pads get worn down, this space gets smaller and smaller.

At first the noise is barely noticeable. But as the pads get thinner and thinner, contact between the rotating disk and that piece of metal becomes more prominent, and that screeching sound you hear becomes more and more audible.

It is very unadvisable to ignore this sound. It really is a warning to the driver.

Best thing to do is not to ignore it and head over to the nearest Acura dealer’s service shop and get the pads replaced immediately.

Friendly reminder: make sure that you get original Acura pads and parts.

New Acura TSX To Arrive At Houston Acura Dealers

December 10th, 2008

The Acura TSX is a 2009 release which is a full reinvention of entry-level sedans. It has a sleek built and sturdy platform that is lower, longer and wider. This is for consumers looking for a more upscale and luxurious sedan which is a notch higher than the typical family drive. It has a five seating capacity and the interior is roomy and comfortable. Among its standard features are a 17-inch aluminum wheels, perforated leather seats, and five-speed automatic transmission.

The Acura TSX houses a 2.4-liter engine which produces 201 horsepower and Sequential SportShift paddle shifters. While TSX’s technological package is certainly impressive, some road tests shows a rather disappointing performance. The steering function is underwhelming and the brakes are just downright unacceptable.

The technological features are a class of their own. The Acura TSX has a USB Audio console that is designed for iPod use, auxiliary input and XM Satellite Radio. In addition, its audio capabilities are also supported by DVD, WMA, MP3 and Dolby. This will surely give a blast while on long drives. Its telephone interface has a Bluetooth function for phonebook swap. Other remarkable features are real-time traffic and weather reporting, and a climate control system that is sensitive to solar and GPS signal.

Safety hasn’t been taken for granted with its front and side airbags, electric stability control, and monitors for tire pressure. In every way, the Acura TSX is the kind that you can expect for a car with subtle sportiness at a reasonable price. See one at your Houston Acura Dealership.

Acura Announces V8 Powered Cars Soon To Be At Dealerships

November 4th, 2008

Acura will offer a V8 engine option within 18 months.

“It’s confirmed,” according to an owner of a California Acura dealership.

Dealers say an eight-cylinder is a must for Acura to compete against luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

In a separate interview, Honda Motor Co. CEO Takeo Fukui confirmed plans for Honda to launch its first V8 engine in an Acura.

The latest Acura RL went on sale this summer with a 300-hp, 3.7-liter V6.

The upcoming engine will “be completely different from conventional, past-generation ones and have excellent fuel efficiency,” he said.

Honda has long talked about making Acura a top-tier luxury brand. At a dealers’ meeting in April, Acura “put the stake in the ground” and made it official.

You should start seeing them on the showroom floor in about 18 months at Acura Dealerships.

Acuras To Be Had Below The Dealer’s Cost!

September 29th, 2008

The 2009 model year officially begins Oct. 1

Before dealers can move on to this next year’s models, however, they need to clear their showrooms of last year’s vehicles–and there are plenty of them. This means it’s a buyer’s market. On several slow-selling , it’s easy to bargain down the price.

Forbes’ Ten Easiest Cars To Bargain For Behind the Numbers
The Kelley Blue Book tracks actual sales transactions throughout the industry.
Kelley supplied data on all vehicles that sold below their posted sticker price during the first two weeks of this month.
Although some vehicles had several different models with higher and lower sticker prices (due to equipment and features particular to those models), this used only the model with the biggest price cut.

Luxury cars are a common sight on the list.
* Forbes reports that the best bargain is on the Acura RL luxury sedan is about $6,000 below the sticker price.

* The V-8 powered Audi Q7, which gets an EPA combined 16 mpg, recently selling for $4,750 below sticker which is even less than the dealer paid the automaker
* The Cadillac Escalade, which only gets 14 mpg. is now selling as much as $4,284 below sticker price
* A 2008 Mercedes-Benz E Class, in the fifth spot on the list, sold for $4,284 below the sticker price.
* A 2008 Acura TL sedan sold for $3,527 below the sticker price.
* The Lincoln Town Car sold for about $4,230 below the sticker price.
* The Chrysler Crossfire, sold for $3,278 below invoice price.
* F-150 pickups as much as $3,535 below the posted sticker price

When bargaining for these or any other cars, it’s important to keep in mind that the dealer can sell below the invoice price and still make money, as there are other incentives that automakers give dealers to push them to move slow-selling cars. Cars that sit on the lot for more than 30 days start to cost the dealers money as finance fees and interest kicks in, says Bartlett.

To pay the lowest price for a new car, you should arm themselves with a little information.
The best bargain price is one that is at or below invoice, which is what the dealer paid the manufacturer.

The one downside is that the bargain-basement prices only last as long as the cars do. The longer consumers wait, the less likely they are to get the best possible deal on the expiring year’s model.
